How to Set Up Xtream Codes on iPhone

What you need first

Xtream Codes is the portal software a large share of IPTV services run. If your provider gave you a web address, a username and a password — rather than a single long playlist link — that is almost certainly what you have.

Before you start, find the welcome email from your provider. You are looking for three things:

• Server URL — something like http://example-server.com:8080. Include the port if one was given; without it the request goes to the wrong door.
• Username — usually short, sometimes a string of digits.
• Password — case sensitive, and frequently the thing that is actually wrong.

Connecting in Momnt IPTV

1. Open the app and choose to add a service

   On first launch Momnt asks how you want to connect. If you already have a playlist set up, you can add another from Settings — the app supports several at once and keeps each one’s catalogue, favourites and history separate.

2. Choose Xtream Codes

   Pick the Xtream Codes option rather than the M3U one. It fetches live channels, movies, series and the guide as structured data, which produces a much better catalogue than a flat playlist.

3. Enter the server address exactly as written

   Copy and paste it rather than typing it. Keep http:// or https:// as your provider wrote it, keep the port number, and do not add a trailing path — the portal endpoints are appended for you.

4. Enter your username and password

   Both are case sensitive. Paste them if you can; an autocorrected capital letter is the single most common cause of a rejected login.

5. Give the playlist a name and connect

   The name is only for you, and it matters if you keep more than one service. Momnt then loads the catalogue and the guide. A large catalogue takes a moment on first connection and is cached afterwards.

If your provider issued a Momnt code

Some services configure Momnt in advance. In that case you type a short code instead of a server address: the app fills in the server details and applies the provider’s branding, and you enter only your own username and password.

The code is not a password. It identifies a configuration, unlocks nothing on its own, and is stored by us only as a salted hash.

The four errors people actually hit

• Login rejected, credentials correct — check whether your subscription has expired, and whether you are already streaming on another device. Most plans allow one or two simultaneous connections and reject the third.
• Connected, but the channel list is empty — the login worked and the catalogue did not. That is on the provider’s portal; nothing in the app can populate it.
• Everything works except the guide — your provider publishes little or no EPG data. Some services expose a separate XMLTV URL; if so, add the playlist as M3U with that guide URL instead.
• Nothing loads on mobile data but Wi-Fi is fine — some networks block the non-standard ports IPTV portals use. Try a different network before assuming the app is at fault.

Where your credentials end up

In Momnt IPTV they are written to the iOS Keychain on your device and sent only to the server address you entered, when the app asks for your catalogue or a stream. There is no Momnt account holding them, and no proxy in between — traffic goes from your device to your provider.

That is worth checking in any IPTV app you install, not only this one. An app that requires its own account before it will play your subscription is asking for something it does not need.
